Last week (too busy to write this before :p) we attended the “Jornadas Regionales de Software Libre”, an annual conference organized by people from Argentina, Uruguay, and (as of this year) Chile, to talk about free/libre culture related topics, not only software. Yesterday (july 30) we attended the fourth TangoRails meeting in “El clasico bar”, it started around 19:00.
We had two talks, the first one by Norman Clarke, about ActiveRecord (the rails implementation of the Active Record pattern), it was really well presented, with material handed out to all the attendants (we were around 15 people), kudos to Norman for that. The other one was by me about UQDS

Lenovo Thinkpads : Welcome our new ex-ibm chinese notebook manufacturers

Finally, a few weeks ago our new Lenovo laptops arrived. Linux support worked like a charm as expected. We ordered a lenovo X61 and a lenovo T61, priced u$s 1700.00 and u$u 1350.00 respectively (placed in Argentina).

I got the X61 (review here) and Tomas got the T61 (review here), both preloaded with 3gb ddr2 ram and 100GB 7200 rpm drives…

Python Bug Day 6/21/2008

A bug day, as the name suggests, is a day dedicated to solving bugs for a specific piece of software. In Python bug days people gather physically and over IRC to discuss and solve errors, add features and improve the documentation.

One of these bug days took place this last saturday, PyAr people met in Rosario at humitos place and in Buenos Aires at Livra/Devego’s offices....
